"My background in fitness has always been exclusively sports related.  In the past few years I had become less active as my schedule became increasingly busy!  My body started changing and I was gaining fat.  Unhappy with what I saw in the mirror, I decided to do something about it before it became overwhelming.  The first step I took was to get back into swimming, an activity I’ve always enjoyed.  Unfortunately, that only took me so far.  I wanted a bigger change but found myself bored and lost at the gym with little results to show for my efforts.  So, I decided I needed some proper training.  When starting with Denise in May I weighed around 230 lbs. As an older woman, whose career spans 27 years as a "desk jockey", it was not easy to find the right personality fit for a personal trainer for my healthy lifestyle change.  Denise, at the onset, answered all my questions candidly and invited me to try and/or watch a fitness class for free in order to see how she works.  Well, after that, it was an easy decision to stay with Denise for my fitness transformation.

If you’re like me, you often wonder if the so-called testimonials you always read are legit or not.  Well this one is, and to prove it my name is Matthew McLelland, I trained under Denise Verutis from April – November 2013, and my phone number is 519-994-7061.  Call me anytime for verification.
Denise is a pro at what she does.  PRO.  There’s no two ways about it, it’s just fact.  She is an excellent personal trainer, a great teacher.  Her knowledge surrounding fitness and nutrition is vast.   She will push you – hard – but she’s not abusive about it and she seems to know just how far to go before she needs to back off and give you a moment.  She will show you how to do things properly and safely so that you can get the benefit of your effort without putting your body in jeopardy.  
She likes to think/pretend that she’s a hard ass, all alpha female, tough, thick skinned and all that.  (I don’t buy it for a microsecond), but spend time with her and you’ll know better.  She has a great big heart, is a really good person, and is exceedingly generous with her time and energy.  She is fun to converse with, has a wonderful smile and laugh, and a fantastic sense of humor.  Who says a workout has to be all pain and suffering?   Have fun too!
(I would like to add however, she IS incredibly strong, her will power is fierce, and she can keep persevering long after the average Joe has fallen by the wayside.  She really doesn’t like to show off, but every once in a while you catch a glimpse of what she’s truly capable of, and it’s pretty humbling/amazing to bear witness to).  
When it’s all said and done, all I know for sure is that the results speak for themselves.  I have never been in better shape in my life – period.  Under her tutelage, I went much farther than I EVER thought was possible for me.  I ran in a 5K marathon that she helped me and other students prepare for, and I did it without stopping once!  5K!!   ME!!!   I also took 12 one-hour sessions with her inside a gym for one on one instruction, and she worked [with] me on various machines, showed me various techniques and exercises and how to do them safely.  First time in my life I could actually see my abs starting to show through.  That was pretty neat to see.  
It’s now up to me to carry forward and continue.  Denise changed my life for the better this year.  I can never repay her enough…
